I am using ie 5.0 and suddenly I am unable to click on "view, source" to view the html for sites. Nothing at all happens - no errors or anything. I've rebooted, etc. with no luck. Does anyone know why this might happen? Thanks.

Usually when that happens it is because the page is not fully loading, it's odd that it is happening consistently...

You should still be able to view source by typing view-source: in front of the web pages address...

view-source:

It may be because the file association with viewing the source has changed.
I've remedied this by using IE's repair function. Cheers,
Jim

Following on from Comtech's thought, check that Notepad is entered in HTML Editor under Tools > Internet Options > Programs

It shouldn't matter whether it is or not, but it's worth a try! I'm assuming neither right clicking and viewing or View > Source work.

It's getting even weirder. I can't even go to file and choose save or edit. They're blanked out.

Neither view>source or right click>view source OR view-source: works. However, it just let me view the source of one page one time, and then that's it. No more. Like it does it once and gives up ever after.

I checked out the html editor-frontpage was selected. I changed it to notepad - no luck. Comtech mentioned an ie repair function...where do I do that?

Also, minor detail, I just realized I'm using 5.5 rather than 5.0. Sorry. Maybe just a re-install is in order? Thanks for all your help. If you have any other suggestions, they are greatly appreciated! -Joy

Problem solved. Someone suggested I delete all the cached pages, and that solved the problem. I guess it was just a little overloaded. Thank you all for your help.

Change the following registry key to the number 0.

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions\NoViewSource

Hey, thanks for the hint on clearing my cache! I didn't know what was going on when suddenly I couldn't View Source anymore. Now it's working fine! Thanks!
