I have sendmail running on Red Hat. We send and receive mail using the microsoft outlook express client. Everything was set up ok and now all of a sudden I can't get mail. I have tested sending mail and that works, but i can't seem to receive mail. It tells me no error number. We have four accounts. When I tried it the first time the two successful accounts had no email in them. I then tested sending email to the two succesful accounts, and now all four have failed. I have not changed any settings for sendmail, only for apache, but I don't see that causing any problems because it's been working for a couple of weeks since the changes.

If any one has any idea or can point me to the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank You

Look in /var/spool/mail/username where "username" is a file containing a users mail. If the file size is not zero, then sendmail is still doing its job and receiving mail and storing it on the server. The job of delivering the mail rests with the pop3 or imap servers. If you have made no changes, then you might try restarting xinitd if your pop server is running as a daemon or restarting it manually if it is a standalone.

I still don't know what the problem is, but I realized that it has nothing to do with sendmail. In actually it has something to do with the particular machine. For some reason it's not gettin the email. I think it has something to do with Outlook Express or Win98 not functioning correctly on that machine. It is working fine temporarily on another machine. We have purchased a new Windows 2000 server so the whole email system that we currently use (which I don't prefer) will be revamped. So thank you RhytmAce.
