Hello;

I have 3 computers (all running xp pro) hooked up to a linksys DSL/Cable router.

Two of my computers can see all 3 computers on the network. I am able to share files etc.

My one computer though, (the DELL) cannot see any of the other computers and fails to find the network. It is able to go onto the Internet and like I said the other computers can see and grab files from this one computer.

I am able to ping the computers also with the troubled computer.

I need to be able to see my other computers on this Dell.

Please help me???

-Eric

Check the setup of the networking on the three computers to make sure they are the same.

Just a thought..make sure all the computers are in the same domain/workgroup also make sure the computers dont have the same name..one last make sure the built in firewall in the XP machine is not enabled.

again just a thought(s)

It's been my policy to view the Internet not as an 'information highway,' but as an electronic asylum filled with babbling loonies."

Make sure the built in firewall within XP on the suspect macnine is disabled.

Good luck, and Happy Computing

I have a similar problem in that I have 2 Windows XP computers hooked up to a Windows NT4.0 Server (pdc). The server can access the xp machines and vice verca but the 2 xp machine won't ping each other even though they can see the machines in "My network places", if you click on the xp machines they return an error.

I got them to ping each other momentarily when I switched from domain to workgroup mode, but this is not an option.

Hello;

Yes I have checked all of the above:

Same Workgroup Name
All Unique Computer Names
Firewall is Off

I AM able to ping those computers and the other computers are able to see the Dell, the Dell cannot see the other computers.

Any other ideas?

-Eric

Pls run on all machines in command prompt command ipconfig /all and post here results :)

Checklist:

. Client for Microsoft Networking installed, all clients
. File and Printer Sharing installed, all clients
. TCP/IP Properties, Advanced, DNS tab, uncheck LMHOST, and enable "Netbios over TCP/IP"
. All users on machine 1 are added with passwords to machines #2 - #N, and vice-versa
. All machines share something, a drive, folder, printer, but something
. Logon with a user password, or Okay, never by hitting the ESC key or Cancel.

Reboot. It can take several minutes for your Network Places screen to reflect the changes. A refresh helps, but they should appear.
