I have an Access db saved to a shared drive. When certain employees log in on their pc, they cannot view any reports either when they click on the report icon on the switchboard or on the report in the object pane. But if that employee goes to a different pc, then they can view the reports in either fashion.

There are no problems viewing the tables or running/viewing queries.

Both PCs are mapped to the same access file on the shared drive.

Version is Access 2003.

What is up?

check the default printer on the computer, try changing the default printer to the same one on the working pc

Mokeehi,

Are they getting any error messages when they attempt to open the object? This shouldn't have anything to do with restrictive rights on computers. The printer has nothing to do with it, unless of course your code specifies printing "on click" of the object. If your code includes printing instructions and if the spooler is turned off, that might effect this. But viewing is different printing. What exactly happens when they try to open these?
I don't see how this problem would be connected to PC addresses. Admin. rights are assigned by log-ins, usually, and restrictions can limit file access, but I don't believe it gets any deeper than that (such as restricted access INSIDE files).

Sorry to disagree with ajetrumpet but the printer setup MAY have something to do with the display. I code on one machine and when used in another profile on a different machine the users have to go throough all the reports and set the print to a specifiec printer otherwise it uses its default which alters the size of the report displayed.

For example I've created 12cm x 12 cm DVD labels that use a DVD label printer, but because that printer is not available to my machine, my machine defaults to my printer and alters the report to an A4 format. the report look ok on the other machine though. This happens without printing anything!

There's some food for thought.

May I also suggest you check that the report links are the same on all machines too. That's if your reports are located on a back end somewhere as you seem to suggest.

Both PCs are mapped to the same access file on the shared drive.

Program Error

99% of time, this is a printer driver issue. Usually the printer saved with the report is not available or the default printer driver needs updating.

my apologies...there are probably more technical issues involved here that I realize.
