Unable to Update Windows98 SE 1

Any attempt to Update Windows or Open IE-6 from Startup or Programs or task bar, results in same error message...
"Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to closedown...sorry for inconvienienc" ??

My default browser is Netscape 7 and I have NO PROBLEMS with it.

Sounds like some DLL or registry problems. You're best bet is to attempt to reinstall IE from CD.

Have you ran updated virus software and spyware apps like adaware. You may have a nasty virus that has killed IE.
