Help me. When opening Outlook 2000 running on a Windows 2000 machine, I receive this message 'Unable to update Public free/busy data. Cannot write to or read from the
file.'

I have searched TechNet and can only find references to the exchange server settings and to people using Schedule+.

Is there anything that can be done at the client computer to fix this, or is the fix done at the exchange server?

Thanks.

Have a look at MS Knowledgebase article Q248330 - something here might help.

There is also an Outlook /cleanfreebusy switch that I use fairly regularly. Maybe that is also worth giving a go.

To use the switch:

. Exit from Outlook
. Select Start\Run
. Click on the Browse button and locate and select the Outlook.exe
. At the end of the command enter: (space)/cleanfreebusy

eg it will probably look something like this:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Outlook.exe" /cleanfreebusy

Anyway hope something here helps

Good luck

Kay

Did you ever resolve this problem? I have the same one and not have been able to fix it.

Thanks,
