Hi folks

The setup:
Win2000 server, Arcserve 2000 Workgroup V7

The problems:
Due to restricted hdd space we currently prune database records that are over 2 days old & merge if required for restore.
1) After merging the sessions do not always appear in restore manager?
2) We have tried stopping and restarting the db engine in the past, which occasionally worked, but the engine now refuses to stop. The status in Server Admin shows "stopping..." and has done for some hours
Both job and tape engines start & stop without problem. There's nothing in the activity log that points to an error with the db. Hdd space (at the moment) is fine.

The resolution?....

Hi
It looks you have a database corruption,
Try to intilize the database from Start-->programes-->ArcserveIT-->Server Admin
then select Database Engine tab and from menu select Operation-->Initialize Database

Note:All Database info including Tapes info Files/directories will be deleted.

I think better to install Arcserve on a machine which is having suffecient space otherwise this will be a teduis job

regards
mohamdr

Thanks, but unfortunately all options connected with the db are greyed out :-(
Looks like I might have to be in early tomorrow & re-boot the server to try to clear it.
