unable to start samba

I kinda did a quick install, borrowed most of the stuff from the another samba conf file.
The only problem I am havingis that when I try to start the smb is that Iget,
Shutting down SMB services: [
OK ]
Shutting down NMB services: [FAILED]
Starting SMB services: [
OK ]
Starting NMB services: [FAILED]

Why is NMB not starting here ??

Good question... Try checking out /var/log/messages?

ok, bad question.
I can start smb now. But the problem now is that I cannot see the shares on windows. From the wndows computer I can see the computer but when I try to map the nertwork drive it cannot get mapped.
Please advise.

Yeah it does.
But now I can see the samba drives and map to it not problem. The problem is when I try to add this machine to join the samba domain. It says users not recognized. I copied the smbpasswd over form the othre samba server in the hope that I dnt have to rejoin the other machines and users which are already in the other samba domain.
But no luck ...
Also, whats the MACHINE_SID number for ?? and how do I find one ???
