unable to start jdbc gateway

I'm tying to get the Teradata windows demo running to do some JDBC tests. So far I've managed to get the database running, and can connect with some utilities demos etc.
However, if I start the JDBC gateway (Programs->NCR TeraJDBC->Teradata JDBC Driver 02.02.00 Server Interface) it fails with a java message:

"java.utils.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle for base name Resource, locale en_US. Default resources also Not available."

I installed the JRE from the demo disk, have rebooted (alot) but to no avail. Running on Win2k SP3.

any ideas anyone ?
