Unable to start Backup and Recover Service

Hi All,

I'm trying to revive an old NW server. Everything seems ok apart from I'm unable to start the Backup and Recover Service. On attempting to start this service. I get error 2140 windows internal error has occurred.

Any ideas.

Which version of Windows to include service pack level?

Which version of Networker?

Did the server have any hardware or software issues that may have caused it to be abandoned in the first place?

The server has been continually used as a mail server but backups had not been required. Legato

that an old OFM could cause the problem, but this has now been upgraded, and the fault persits.

If you disable OFM and reboot, can you start the Backup and Recover service?

The only plausible cause why a NW server will not be able to start is a defective media database. ..\nst\logs\daemon.log should tell you more.
