Unable to set Firewall in XP

In Network Connections, Local area connection properties, I try to tick the checkbox to set Windows firewall.
I am getting the following message:
An error occured while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled. The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

And so the firewall is not set :-(

What should I do?

Hi, try to reapply SP2.

Actually this was the problem before I installed SP2 and persisted after :-(

However, somebody advised me the following link:
