Unable to send multiple contacts included in group?

My boss has tried sending me a group of contacts (some of which I do not have added to my database), and when I open the .grp file using ACT! ver: 10.0.3.182, the group "unpacks" (I'm not sure the proper terminology), but the would-be contacts are NOWHERE to be found.

I even tried this in a new database, and the only evidence that I opened the .grp file is a new group labeled accordingly.

He is using the same version as me.

When our company was using ACT! ver 6, we were able to send groups with contacts. What are we doing wrong, or has ACT disabled this feature?

The grp file is just the group record, not the contacts.

Your boss should send the contacts... or, maybe you'd be better with actually setting up sync?
