unable to select items in fields on custom forms

HI I have inherited a database to support so I don't know it very well (at all) my user has just informed me that she cannot select any items in the fields on the custom forms, although they and the underlying records display. Having looked I have done a compact/repair and checked the form/table properties which shows no locks etc any pointers would be most appreciated

Have you checked the Allow Edits, Allow Additions, Allow Deletions properties of the form?
Are the controls locked(check the controls' property sheet)?
Is there any Access security that's restricting their permissions?
Has the user used the form before?
Have you tried the form?
Do you have a copy of the Database? Can she use the form in the copy?
Do you mean she cannot edit/update or actually select the control?
If she can't update/edit, the form may be based on a non-updatable query.
