Can anyone help with this? As usual with my posts, it's odd (like me!) try going to or for the non religious amongst you, These should show a framed site, menu on left side, window on right side. When I try them, (win XP PRo IE latest or Firefox) I can see the menu on the left side, where it should be (on both sites mentioned), If I then select an item in the menu. The following happens: Left menu disappears, the page navigated to fills the screen.
Instead of the menu staying where it is and the new page being visible as a left frame (?)

I use another pc (Win 2k pro, IE and/or Firefox, latest vers for that OS) and I have none of these problems.
The reason that this post is in here is because I got a fix from a mate who said download from When I did the XP machine worked, and displayed the pages as it should, though after a few mins it all went belly up! If any one can help I'll buy them a virtual beer! This is killing me. Thanks in expectation. RBP

I don't think it has to do with Java. I didn't see any applet in that pages. I have XP but not that Java update and everything works fine.

Cheers,
Dian

On this page :
there is an applet. However, I cannot get it to run in a 1.5 JRE - there seems to be a fairly funadamental failure - a ClassFormatError ( - so either someone has shafted the class file, or maybe its a versioning issue.

I just looked at first one. Second one works for me anyway.

Which JRE are you running Dian ?

1.4.2_10, so the idea of the update making it work is not so feasible.

Cheers,
Dian

No - especially considering I'm on 1.5 and it does not work.

RBP - perhaps you should recompile the classes using a 1.5 JDK.

Thanks for the pointers, but I am still in the dark.
I still can't see the menus on these two sites after the initial click. This happens with lots of other sites too. If I could get to the bottom of this I'd be really happy!
Thanks for your efforts. RBP

Did you recompile the code using JDK 1.5 ?

I don't think he has access to those sites to recompile, sedj.

Thanks all for your responses, none of which were able to help me.. I am just trying to view these sites. So I don't have compile access to them. I am really at the end of my tether. If I could figure this out I'd be REALLY HAPPY!!!

Thanks all RBP.

Well, considering previous responses, my diagonosis would be that the applet code was compiled with a version of the JDK less than or equal to 1.4 - which is incompatible with JRE version 1.5.

Without access to the code, I would suggest you forget about the applet, and use non-applet ways to code your website.
