I am unable to run reports out of Crystal Reports 2008. My coworker can run the very same report that I try to run. I have uninstalled Business Objects XI, and Crystal Reports 2008 to no avail. We are both using the same Business Views, the same actual .rpt file and everything. She can run the report just fine whereas I am unable to do so.

I get:

"The saved data will be discarded since one or more formulas failed to compile." upon opening the report. If I attempt to refresh the report my formula editor opens to the "bad" formula with the message: "The remaining text does not appear to be part of the formula."

Help!!!!

what is the 'remaining text'?
Show the contents of the formula(s) that the report thinks is bad.
It is likey a datasource issue (perhaps she has permissions to views/tables that you don't?)

Sorry the actually Error message I get is:

"A number, currency amount, boolean, date, time, date-time, or string is expected here."

The formula in which it references is:

x:= ParametersEvaluation({?Relative Date},{?Relative Time},{?Start Date},{?End Date},
{?Start Time},{?End Time},vMonthStart,vWeekStart,vStart_1,vNumHrs_1,vStart_2,vNumHrs_2,
vStart_3,vNumHrs_3);

What is highlighted is the ParametersEvaluation when it comes up to the Formula Editor.

We use the same login/password for our Oracle data sources. We have even gone so far as to copy her tnsnames.ora file to my Oracle directory, made sure that our ODBC connections in ODBCAD32 are exactly the same (word for word) and made sure that when I Log On/Off Server area in Crystal Reports has the same things in the My Connections area and that they are all logged on.

We searched both computers using crufl*.dll, *ufl*.dll, ufl*.dll, *ufl.dll, *.dll and did not find a single file on either computer that has those letters with wild card searches.

Dead end there.

Hi,
Since 'ParametersEvaluation' is not a standard CR function there is a UFL involved ( or some other method of adding functionality to the std. CR function set - like a COM object) so, on the PC where it works, look at the Functions list in the formula editor to see if there is a listing of 'additional functions' or some such..

If the PC that works has that function listed then you will know what is needed on yours -

Bingo Turkbear...you hit the nail on the head. I did some digging and found that I was missing some .dll files. So we are copying the good computer's DLL's and will install them on my machine. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Yahtzee!!! We have a winner!!!! Thanks for all your help everyone!!!

My hair can now relax as there is less likely hood it will be pulled out today!!!

Thanks again!

Hi,
Glad it helped ( we had a similar situation where I worked since one or two PCs did not get a new COM object installed ( for some reason, probably a PICNIC* issue)
