I am unable to get to grips with this xhost. My ip is 10.56.57.14, server is 10.56.4.10.

What do I need to do to check why this is not working and what I have not set up?

Telnet to 10.56.4.10 and as oracle I try:
bash-2.05a$ export DISPLAY=10.56.57.14:0
bash-2.05a$ dbca
java.lang.InternalError: Can't connect to X11 window server using '10.56.57.14:0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable.

Are you running this from a Windows PC or another unix console?

Do you have exceed/x-win32 or some other X-emulator software when you try to open dbca?

Sorry, yes - Windows 2000.

I have no emu software, I have managed to use this xhost thing in the past but remember it was amazing hard to config. and suddenly worked.
