Unable to run any apps after NAV 2003 install

I installed NAV 2003 last week for the first time. After a successful installation, I am now unable to run ANY app including NAV. I get message "Cannot find the file ...... (or one of its components) etc etc".

I cannot uninstall NAV - fatal errors. I cannot uninstall using the "special" utility on the Symantec web site (as I can't run anything !).

My thinking is that during the install, NAV has quarantined a virus, but there are bad entries in the registry, leaving the virus neither in nor out of the system.

Does anybody know how to get out of this ?

I'm running Windows 2000 Pro.
