I know this is how Arcserve works, but I was wondering if there was a work around. I am trying to restore a file and I am currently missing one of the tapes from the job. The data is not on the missing tape. It will ask for that tape when trying to do the restore.

Do you know on which tape the missing file resides ??
If so, do a restore by backup media and use an include filter to restore only this file.
If you're not sure from which session this file is, scan the tape first using the scan option
