I'm connected to the Internet via cable access. I have a Linksys Cable/DSL Router with two computers connected.
My Windows 98 machine will now not resolve domain names and will not connect to AOL via TCP/IP. I can ping IP addresses
on the Internet and get a reply but it will not see domain names. I ended up formatting the drive completely and I installed Windows 2000 Pro and I'm having the same problems. This would tell me that it's a hardware issue. Do you think it might be a bad NIC? My other machine is working fine without any problems so I doubt it's the
Cable/DSL router. Any help will be appreciated.

thanks,
Rod

The problem was found to be the Linksys Cable/DSL Router.

Resetting the route with the following procedure fixed it.

Using a pen or pin press and hold the restart
button in for 15 seconds. While still holding
the button in unplug the power supply. Continue
to hold the button in for 15 seconds then plug
the power supply back in and hold for an additional
15 seconds.

Seems kind of silly but it worked. Linksys Support
told me to do it so I did.
