I am running Windows Vista Home edition SP2 on a 64-bit laptop with all available Windows updates.

For the last few weeks (don't remember the exact date) I have been randomly unable to resize columns in Windows Explorer when browsing in any viewing mode (I am usually in details view, which is where I noticed it). About 95/100 windows will NOT let me resize the columns by using my cursor to drag the separators. The cursor changes when I hover over the separators, but I am not able to grab it to drag. Nothing happens. I AM able to right click on a column heading and either size to fit or manually enter a size.

This is very frustrating as I often need to resize columns to view long filenames.

Thanks for any clues.

Have you tried testing with another Mouse in case the current one is faulty?

Can you reproduce this behavior within Safe Mode?

This will check the System Files if you think the fault is with Windows.
