I am trying to add a new phone on an MLX port #3. It currently is ext 7102. I want to thange it to a lower 2 digit extension, but am unable to do so in SPM. I have tried renumber, but it fails.

I would like to make this ext 50, but 50 does not show up in the programming screen.

I have tried renumbering an existing unused number to a higher number then renumbering this on to the other number.

That also fails.

What am I missing?

Thanks John

You need to find an unused number that you can transfer the current extension to. Then, renumber it to the extension you want - assuming it is not already in existence. I suspect the number you are trying to renumber it to the first time is already in use (as far as the system is concerned). I would first use WinSPM to do a "print all" to a file and review the report to see what extensions numbers are actually in use - before trying to renumber. That way, you will have a clear idea of how the extensions are currently numbered and which numbers are available to do the renumbering you originally tried to do. When a renumber operation doesn't take - it is almopst always because the number you are trying to renumber to is already in use.
