Unable to reinstall version 1.0.3705 framework and VB.net 2002 1

I'm trying to reinstall VB.Net 2002 and 1.0.3705 framework.

I've version 1.1.4322 framework installed but I believe my version of VB.Net requires the earlier version of the .Net framework.

Gone thru the process of installing the Windows Components disk and then proceeded to install VB.Net 2002. Everything appears to be going fine until disk tries to install the 'Change List - Beta to RTM' doc at which point the installation halts.

I've downloaded the dotnetredist.exe file but this reports that version 1.0.3705 is already installed. However this is not shown within my list of programs installed - also there is no folder for v1.0.3705 within Windows / Microsoft.Net / Framework for this version of the framework only a folder for v1.1.4322

When I try to install v1.0.3705 I receive an error message reporting: Setup cannot install Microsoft .NET Framework (English) v1.0.3705 because it is already installed.

The dotNetfx text file within my Temp folder under Documents and Settings outlines the following:

i'm not an expert at all but, you have a line that says
