Hi,

I am trying to register an OLAP database using SQL Analysis Services Manager over a Cisco VPN connection.

When I attempt this I get the follwoing error:
Errors occurred. Cannot open connection to Analysis server Error in data [Possible data corruption]

I have confirmed that Service Pack 3 is installed, but I am not sure what to do from here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

I don't believe you can. AS is very tight on security and typically you must be a domain member to register a server on another machine. Cross Domain registration isn't allowed either.

Thank you for your reply.

Is there any type of workaround in that could be used?

Cheers!

if you have to admin multiple servers or a server on a different network a good method is to term serv to the machine where AS is installed and admin from there. If there are multiple servers in the same domain you can put an app server in the domain and use it to admin all instances of AS in that domain.

I was able to get this to work by creating a duplicate user account w/ same username and password on the OLAP server as the workstation and added this user to the OLAP Administrators account.

good job!
