I have a Ubuntu server drive that I want to completely wipe and reinstall with US14. I have gone through 2 flash drives because once the stick writing was completed it finalized the stick. The problem with those is that the server download has known issues (which I then discovered) in the install with usb drives. Then I burned a dvd, unfortunately it only gets me to the login prompt and does not install. So I thought I would work around by creating a LiveUsb with Mint, format and install, then wipe with the server dvd I burned. OF course that didn't work. Should I just put a magnet to it at this point? Does anyone have any better suggestions?

Thanks.

I would get a copy of parted magic, and see if I could erase the drive of all partitions, and try to start fresh. Either use the free version from ultimate boot cd, or pay the 9$ for the up to date version.
