Hi,

We recently had an issue when with legato application in one of our HP-UX servers. The networker daemons were not able to start.
We got the below error :

08/16/11 14:31:02 nsrmmdbd: error adding btrees to ss (an invalid slot number)
08/16/11 14:31:02 nsrmmdbd: WISS error: an invalid slot number
08/16/11 14:31:02 nsrmmdbd: Error on close of volume index file #0 (invalid file number)
08/16/11 14:31:02 nsrmmdbd: Error on close of volume index file #1 (invalid file number)
08/16/11 14:31:02 nsrmmdbd: Error on close of volume index file #2 (invalid file number)
08/16/11 14:31:02 nsrmmdbd: Error on close of volume index file #3 (invalid file number)
08/16/11 14:31:02 nsrmmdbd: Error on close of volume index file #4 (invalid file number)
08/16/11 14:31:02 nsrd: nsrmmdbd has exited with status 1

The problem appeared to be with the currupt mm datbase. we tried to use nrck to fix the problem using nrck command but it failed. later we renamed the db6 and mmvolume6 directories and restarted the daemons.

Now we have to recover the media database and resource files from the old backups. But the problem is scanner -i command is unable to read the contents of the old tapes...

Could any one please help on process for restoring the media database and resource files.

we have a very old legato version 6.1.1

Wow - is this still supported? - Just kidding.

However, the procedure has not changed for years. And there was/is direct scanner process involved at all:

1. recover the bootstrap with mmrecov and run the DR process.
You will receive detailled instructions how to proceed at the end of the routine.

2. recover the CFIs with "nsrck -L7"

"This is it" (Michael Jackson).
