I ran scanner -i to recover the savesets for a tape which had expired and were no longer in the indexes. The savesets have now been recovered and I can see in the 'versions' on the client server the tape is available for recovery. But when I browse to that tape it does not go to that tape, but the browse window is now showing the correct time window for the tape I want to browse.

Am I missing something? I hope this makes sense!!!

Thanks in advance.

I hope i got your point :
you want to repopulate your client file index with the scanner command.
The save sessions are avaiulable in the media database but the savesets are not browsable.
If I am right you have a newer networker (7.4.2 or higher).
In this releases you have to "reenable" savesets before they were stored in the cfi again :
Try the following :
mminfo -r "ssid,cloneid" -q "volume=nameofyouroldvolume">savesets.txt
now you can set the retentiontime for all savesets to reasonable short time e.g 2 days

nsrmm -S savesetid/cloneid -y "2 days"
after this
nsrmm -S savesetid -w "1 day"
will give you a saveset with 1 day browsetime.
retry scanner -im or a nsrck -L7 -t operation and your savesets will be browsable again.

I forgot something :
Between the two nsrmm operations you have to change the mode of an recyclable saveset :
nsrmm -o !recyclable -S savesetid.

but now it schould work.
