I have my site ready, I have my domain name and I have my web space. I go through opening Front Page, opening the web I wish to publish, press publish web, get prompted for my username and password. Enter these correctly (checked and double checked with host) and get prompted for password again every 2 seconds.

I last enetered my password 116 times out of frustration and still nothing published! Anyone any ideas - I promise that all the obvious stuff I have checked, dial-up, passwords etc etc.

Someone mentioned in passing it might be something to do with the Firewall I had on my machine. I have subsequently uninstalled this but still no joy! Grrrr! Frustrated and completely bemused.

After all the effort of setting up and designing my site, not being able to publish it to the web makes me despair. Where do I go from here and has anyone ever had a similar problem?

I have checked with the host yes and they are similarly bemused and have offered me a refund of the year's fee for hosting that I paid up front. That is very fair of them but not quite the point! I am happy for them to host the site if I could only get the site published!!

I had the exact same problem, and had to have the ISP change the IIS authentication..

There is an article on the FP2000 help page that handles this. You need to have your ISP change your authintication. Here is the article.. Hope it helps.

------
FP2000: You Are Repeatedly Prompted for Your User Name and Password When You Open a FrontPage Web

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft FrontPage 2000

------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
When you use Microsoft FrontPage to open an existing web on a Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) computer, you may be repeatedly prompted to enter a user name and password, even though your logon information is correct.

CAUSE
This behavior occurs if IIS is configured to use Microsoft Windows NT Challenge/Response authentication (also known as NTLM Challenge/Response).

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, configure IIS to use Basic authentication. To do this, follow these steps:

Open Internet Services Manager or the custom Microsoft Management Console (MMC) that contains the IIS snap-in.

Right-click the default Web site, and then click Properties.

Click the Directory Security tab.

Under Anonymous access and authentication control, click Edit.

Click to select the Basic authentication check box, and then click OK.
