Hi,

I've got a Cisco 4506 with a SupV and a couple of 48 port 10/100 802.3af switches.

I need to know why it wont power up my Nortel IP phones as even a debug shows nothing.

Every now and then the status light would flash but disappear quickly but the PoE device is still down.

I've also got a Cisco 3560 and the phones power up fine with them.

Help?

What the?!?!

type Show Module to determine if you have enough power resources for the card....

On the port (type power inline auto).

type (show power inline). <---- To verify

I am not sure this applies to you but i install Avaya phones and with some cisco switches we need special power converters because the switch does not power the phones. I am not a cicso person. THe switches were the big blade boxes and they were not compliant in the POE standard.

I'm not a Cisco tech either but I do agree with kwing regarding the power. I think I recall slots on the Cisco POE switches that require modules be installed for the particular POE equivalent of ports.

first of all do you have the right power supplies??

you have to get the voice rate power supplies..
