I am running SQL 2005 reporting services on an intranet. Every time I hit the print button to print a report I get "Unable to load client print control". Is there a fix for that? Thanks

You have to have administrator rights to load the ActiveX control. If you do have rights, there is a MS hotfix that disabled it. I can give you details if you want. I'd have to look it up again.

Can you please give me details? It happens when anyone is loged on including administrator.

Your reply had two links and I chose the first one and since everyone has a local printer I chose the second option in the link. I am still seeing the same message. I don't think I have to reboot or anything like that. This is not a server install right? I did it on my pc.

No. The first link is the one that you need to pay attention to. The Windows update you need to uninstall to fix it is KB956391. Go to Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs. Hopefully that fixes your problem. The problem you are having has to do with the browser ActiveX that needs to be installed.

Well, I did all that and had gone to control panel but did not see KB956391. I don't know whats going on.

Make sure you check the "Show updates" checkbox. It will be hidden from view otherwise.

Thank you so mutch bburnell...its working. I am a bit confused though. I click on the first link you sent me (social.msdn...)and installed both options 1 and 2. I am not sure now which option is the one that works. It seem that option 2 is the one but am not certain.

If you are using SQL 2005, you would want the first one. If you are running SQL 2008, you would want the second one. You probably don't need them if getting rid of the update fixed it.

Microsoft has supposedly fixed it with another update but I still can't get it to work.

Glad to help!

I thank you for the fix...its working fine. However I have a bit of a different issue. I have users that today they work and tomorrow they don't. They get a page can't be display or a default page for the ISP. I have done everything I can think of: clearing history, making sure they don't have static IP's, lowering security in the intranet, etc. I just tried a user and it works. Any ideas as to why its so intermitten? Thanks

Have you looked in IIS for the problem? You could change the timeout to a higher number possibly. Those types of happen today, don't happen tomorrow are the toughest problems to find.
