I am trying to print from a local Windows XP machine to a remote Windows 98 printer share. In the past there has been no problems. Recently, I've added a second printer share to the Win98 printserver, using a different share name and different printer model. Testing was done and all went well. Now there is a problem that i am unable to resolve. When i send a print job from a Windows XP machine, the status of the print job is 'Spooling'. If i send 5 documents, then all 5 will be spooling. The minute i send the same print job from a Windows 2000 machine, it will print, only the job from the Win2K machine. The job from the WinXP machine is still 'spooling'. I've been troubleshooting for days now, with no positive results. I've changed drivers, re-installed printers on both remote and local, changed share names... still nothing. Can anyone shed some light or share some ideas?

Just a side note, the printers are connected via a VPN. We have a Linux gateway sitting on each side, handling the connection over an ADSL connection and forwarding packets. The VPN is IPSEC enabled. We have had this running for quite some time with no problems at all.

Have you tried playing with the spooling options of the printer? There are some that might do the trick in the properties of the printer.
Good luck

You are making a simple problem difficult just resart your system and make adjustments as you go.
