I have a server which is running an MSL5026SL library with 2 SDLT160/320 Drives.

WHen running overwrite jobs, it works great. However, when appending to the tape, it more often than not fails with Unable to Position Media: No Data Detected.

The library firmware is 0404, the drives are at 3333 firmware. I updated the Adaptec SCSI controllers, and that seemed to help, but now I dont think it has at all.

The library is recognised in Windows 2000 as only as medium changer - loading the MSL drivers didnt seem to help either.

Any help??

The recognition of the library as 'unknown medium changer' should be OK as ARcerve uses its own driver to control the library. As long as Windows 'sees' the changer, ARCserve also will.
Did you update ARcserve 200 with the latest service packs AND device fixes / updates ??

regards
