While trying to open OE this morning I received an error message Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to create the Internet Account Manager. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Contact MS support for further assistance. (0x800705AA)
I know there is plenty of memory my RAM=512k and I have plenty of disk space left
Now I am hoping this has not happened due to a virus as Norton have failed to send me my renewal sub number despite receiving confirmation from my bank that the payment left there on 8 June.
Anyone know what is going on and how to fix please.
If I re-install OE [HOW?] will I lose all my current mailboxes and messages.

TIA

Just tried something after reading another thread I can open OE in my husbands Desktop account. so thought I might be able to reach it after switching back to mine but to no avail. still getting message as above and another window pops up which says
could not be started becasue MSOE.dll could not be initialized. OE may not be installed correctly.
How can this happen that one user can be correct but not the other?
Thanks once again

This is very weird, I went away to do shopping etc, Didnt close the computer or anything just let it sleep, When I got back to check this site for an answer my email was suddenly working again. However I would still like to know why this happened so appreciate any answers any one has about this.
TIA you guys.

I've seen discussions of this before, and I'm quite certain that you experienced something like this - some identity related corruption. How it became fixed, I have no idea.

HI SMAH thanks for gettiing back to me. I can only think it was something Ad-Aware may have done. I used the Adaware before I opened the mail. I can't think what else may have affected it. However as it is working again I will leave well alone.
Thanks again

Hey there! guess what? I have had the same issue in the last couple of months, with the OE error code 0X800705AA, Unable to Open Outlook Express (internet account manager), the the field that follows regarding the DLL file. Just curious if by posting your question wheather you got any good information to resolve this issue. I also find after a Restart of the PC, everything in OE works fine for a time then the error starts and time to re-boot again. If you can help at all I would thank you in advance. There doesn't seem to be much for info on the net including Microsoft knowledge base. You can also reply to me at kkretchmarATsasktel.net

This happens from time to time. I got this reply from a good source; in answer to my question,(I emailed him), which I believe was the same issue you have or had. In order to resolve this behaviour do the following:

Click Start, Run and enter %SystemRoot%\Inf. Locate the MSOE50.INF file.
Right click it and select Install. It will ask to verify two files from
there needing your XP CD.

Extra info, if needed:

Enable Reinstallation of Internet Explorer or OE (Line 114)

How to Reinstall or Repair IE or OE in Windows XP

Best of luck and keep me posted.

All the Best,
