Unable to open internal mail in Outlook 2000

We've got the following problem on one computer. Whenever we try to open an internal mail we get the "Unable to open item" error. If we try to open an external mail there is no problem. If we login on the mailbox on another machine it works fine.

We use Outlook 2000 with an Exchange 2000 server. We've already tried repairing outlook but this also generates an error message, even when logged in as an administrator. There might be a problem with windows since we also get an error when we trie to look in add/remove programs.

The next option for me is completely reïnstalling the computer but I kinda hope someone can help me here.

Before you do that run Spybot search and destroy or any other spyware program because of the Add/Remove Programs issue it makes me wonder about a bot that has been loaded. The problem is not just Outlook so don't think of it that way. It is effecting more that just email that was just the first thing the user noticed. If you are logged on as Admin and cant remove or repair Outlook then it is an entire machine problem.

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.
