Our installation consists of W2K SP1, MetaFrame 1.8 SP2, Office2000 and IE5.5 (Exhange2000 running on W2K DC)

A problem occurs when a 'FAT' user tries to open HTML pages that come in as Outlook attachments. They can't be opened and have to be saved to disk and then opened manually from IE.

I should add that this only occurs on a 'FAT' client. If the same process is carried out on a 'THIN' client, WYSE terminal, then all is ok.

More information can be supplied if necessary.

Thanks
Tim

Is Outlook a published application, or are you delivering it via a desktop session?

If the former, does it work when the "Fat" clients access the desktop session?

Yes - Outlook is a published application. So is IE5.5

Yes - If a 'FAT' client tries the same procedure via the desktop session it works.

Hope this helps.

After selecting Open, IE5.5 runs and loads the default home page, which is an Intranet page.

The error message produced is in a seperate dialogue box and reads, "The system can not find the file specified"

Have you checked the "fat" clients System Path...????

Knowing what I should be checking it for would be of great help!!!!!

Yeah, it would be!! Sorry it was way too early!! OK, are you able to browse the Mail Server from your "fat" client?? Can you map a drive to it from the clients...???? After thinking about your problem I don't think you should need an entry in the path statement...but...??? At first I thought it might be an Outlook configuration problem but Explorer is being launched and does open its default start page...are the "fat" clients configured as Domain Members..???

I think the answer is yes to all your questions.

You could try mapping a drive to the mailserver and adding this to the System Path on the Fat Client...

I've also been looking for a registry entry for enabling/disabling UNC for you, it might help...???

Thanks for the information. I will look at the TechNet article.
