Anytime I do a full backup from my rotation scheme I
get error code E4102 unable to open database.
If I do a manual backup it works fine.

Your message should tell with base is faulty. Did you try reinitializing your whole database?
This can be done with Server Admin, Database Engine tab, Operation menu, Initialize database: select ALL database and let's go. Meanwhile, you'll lose all your media pools and will need to recreate them. Also, you'll need to resubmit your rotation jobs.
