Hi,
I've just installed Red Hat 8.0, and what I hope someone can help me with is the following:

Every time I'm logged in, and have been there for a while, the windows suddently can't be moved around using the mouse. No errors or warnings visible, I just can move the windows. I CAN move it if I right-click the border and select 'move', however, I find this a pretty annoying method for moving them around.

This applies both for KDE and Gnome, and I have tried to restart (killall) metacity, with no luck.

Any ideas out here?

Reg.,

I remember having the same problem. If my memory serves me correctly I ran the Desktop settings wizard again and went for Windows-type behaviour with the default KDE theme. I don't know if it's a bug in Bluecurve - surely they would have tested that thoroughly seeing it's their first real attempt at a desktop operating system. Hope this helps. Let me know

Hi,
I've changed the desktop theme to another one, and I can still move the windows :) Most likely they would've hung by now, but it all looks good so far!

Thanxx for the advice - I'll let you know if the problem reoccur with the new theme as well!

Hmm.... The windows are being stuck again... Another thing happening is that the "repeat-function" on the keys doesn't work either, i.e. when I hold down a key it only prints that letter once, it does not repeat it.

Any more suggestions? Any new experience in this matter?

Whats your HW? I installed RH8 (with KDE/Bluecurve) on a HW challenged box and had similar goofy problems.

I'm sorry, but I don't really understand what you mean.. When you say - what's my HW - do you mean what type of machine, harddrive, motherboard, soundcard etc I've got?

Is there a nice way to check whether my HW is "challenged", like you say?
