I have a development server running Sharepoint Services V3 and SQL Server Express 2005.

I am able to send mail with text, html or asp attachments. When I try and send small Microsoft Office documents such as Word or Excel the file doesn't arrive. I see the eml file at the MailRoot\Drop directory but it doesn't end up in the Site.

I did send a pdf file and this indicated that the requested mail action aborted: exceeded storage allocation. When I sent a smaller file the eml file did go to the MailRoot\Drop directory but it did not show up at the Site?

Please assist

I figured it out myself.

Attachments to messages sent from Microsoft Outlook 2003 must be encoded in UUEncode or Binhex format to appear separately in e-mail enabled document libraries. Attachments from Outlook 2003 that use different encoding will not be listed, but e-mail messages that contain attachments will be listed.
