Unable to logon to CMC with 2 NIC´s

We are running a W2k server with Metframe XP 1.0 SP1 and two
NIC´s. One network card for the internal network, and
the other network card connected to "Internet". Why do i have to pull out the network cable from the "public" network
card to to start the CMC? If i don´t, i get the error message " Unable to logon to server...". When i´m finished
administering i just push back the cable and everything is
OK again.
Any ideas?
