Unable to login to database ERROR

I am running ArcServeIT 6.61 on a NT 4.0 Server Platform. Recently my Full backups started hanging about Halfway through. I am unable to find any information on the following error code. Any Help would be appreciated.

Event ID: 4101, Unable to login to database engine. (Database=Arcserve, EC=-1003)

How many files do you have under the ARCserveIT\database folder....

guess that folder is missing a few files.
you would need a blank database
