Hello to all,

I would like some help with a problem that occured with Autocad in my work.

We are using Autocad 2007 in Windows 2000. Some days ago a workstation had a problem and we had to erase the user's profile. Since that, the user hasn't been able to load Autocad. He is getting the following message:

"Unable to load profile file. Some profile information saved in last session may not be restored."

followed by a message that referes to a problem with the license.

I tried several solutions that i read in this forum and in other pages on the internet but nothing worked. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Sophie,

You might check the shortcut and see if it's trying to load a profile, if it is, try just running Acad.exe.

Failing that, you may try repair option of the install program.

Hi Todd, thanks for replying

I did check the shortcut, it isn't trying to load any profile it's only runing Acad.exe.

As for the repairing, i tried that too. The repair can not be completed. The error is "Fatal error during installation". The same problem happens when i try to completely uninstall the progam. The user also has Cadwere. I can't uninstall that eather.

Hi Sophie,

Something else is going on... This sounds as though it's a Windows/Hardware problem. It could just be the registry got hosed up, so you might try manually removing AutoCAD and CADwere and then using something like CCleaner (freeware) to clean up the registry after you manually remove AutoCAD. Norton Systemworks might be able to diagnose the problem and fix it but it sounds more like you're in for rebuild.

Hello again Todd,

I finally got it to work!
Thank god it wasn't a hardware problem.

I guess the user's profile was corrupted because, when I copied another user's profile folder and renamed it to the current user's name (who got the problem), it worked! I really don't know if this is the right think to do but it did the trick.

Thanks again for your help
Sophie
