I’m working with PE2300 tag # u67cn.
Firmware ver. A14

The problem is as follows:

I am unable to successfully install several types 10 and 100base NIC using Windows 2000 via either of the PCI slots.
I have tried 3Com 3c900-TCO, 3Com 3c905-TX, and Intel Pro 100s, all known to be in working condition.

I have only had success with the 10base 3Com card which is not an acceptable solution. The 100 base 3Com
card is recognized however is not loaded properly. In properties, I can see resource allocation however it does
not have the proper driver to operate. If I load the proper driver for 3c905-tx on W2k I lose the resources and the
card remains unusable.
I would believe this was a software issue but I have gone as far as reinstalling the OS from the
Dell Server Asst. disk. As for the Intel Pro 100s, the system will not power on at all with that piece of equipment
installed in any of the PCI slots.

History:
This server had been working for several years in a FDDI environment with a Compaq Netelligent 100 FDDI NIC installed,
prior to that it had a 3Com 100 base NIC. This didn’t occur till the FDDI card was removed. If I reinstall the FDDI card,
it works properly.

I looking for any assistance

Thanks.
CM

Hey,

It seems like your 100Mbps NICs are using a .dll or other type of file that is being removed along with the drivers for the fddi card.

Try removing both of the cards, and then install the 100Mbps as if it was the first card.
