When some Win9x machines try and run the framepkg.exe some of them get an error saying "Unable to load MSVCRT.DLL. It may be missing or out of date."

Simple I hear you say, but this means going to every PC and updating the DLL. I have tried to put this DLL in the login scripts, but that doesnt work. If I try locally to add the new version of MSVCRT.DLL to the system directory it says that this file is in use. So I have rename the old and then copy over the new one.

My question is can I automate this action in the login script? Otherwise it means going to alot machines (Probably about 300) and doing it locally!

Please help

It's said in the ePo 3.0 Admin guide (the pdf) that for windows 9x and Framepkg.exe, you need first to install other programs.

For Windows 95 A, B and C : Dcom95.exe and vcredist.exe (visual libraries (msvcrt.dll for example))
These two programs are avaible at this adress by searching by keywords
For Windows 98 : Dcom98.exe
All need a reboot and can be used in silent mode in a batch script. Try dcom /help or -help for more informations.
Some other programs install dcom95 (mainly database access programs) by default, so you don't need to reinstall it.

Damn Win9x :p

Thanks for that mate. I will incorporate vcredist.exe into the login scripts and that should all be ok then. I currently have dcom95 in the scripts but not dcom98. Do you think it is good idea to have dcom98 as well??

Thanks again.

Mainly of Windows 98 have dcom98 installed with other applications

But i don't know your network

In your Logon script, you must check if it's a Win95 of Win98 of WinNT, and install the good one

The Win 98 machines look as though they are safe, except for the issue of the MSVCRT.DLL file. I will put vcredist.exe in the scripts and hope that sorts out that issue.

Thanks again for your help, it is appreciated.
