Hello,
I have a Compaq Presario sr1703wm in which I have installed an available hard drive for additional storage. The device manager shows the new Western Digital WD200 drive, but, it does not show up as an available volume in file manager.
I already have a drive C:,D: & E: (CD)
What must I do in order to label this disk?

It most likely needs to be partitioned and formatted. If you are using XP or 2000 then you can use Disk Management to do this (Start, Run..., diskmgmt.msc)

Thanks. I thought I could handle this through the GUI. I finally followed the help to the command line tool. That did the trick.
Thanks again.

If you used DISKPART from the command line to fix it then I commend you. Not a tool for the faint of heart.

Yes, I used DISKPART. The disk manager offered the GUI based commands which ran me in a circle. Once I followed the directions on how to use DISKPART, the whole process worked quite smoothly.
