Trying to look at Microsoft Open Licence agreement online because my version of IE 6.0 did not support 128 bit encryption. I went to the Micros**t web site and downloaded most up to date version. When I ran the upgrade. I got the following error message. "Setup cannot continue because files are missing from the installation directory. Please run setup again and choose resume setup. This will download the missing files and resume setup" Click OK and try again. Same message. Try uninstalling IE6 through Add/Remove programmes in Control Panel and the options are Repair or Restore previous configuration. Neither of which works. Now every time I boot the PC it prompts me to install latest version of IE6. It is starting to annoy me. I can not install or uninstall the darned thing. A phone call to Micros**t help line basically said "Yes we make it and supply it free but we will only support it if you give us money". Can anyone help please.

Hi,

I know this occurs quite often, but the best bet is to go out and buy a mag with IE 6.O on the cover disk, and install it that way, quicker and easier all around.

it's a characteristicly stupid MS installation - I just had a very similar problem with one of my users and after an emabrrasingly long time hunting through the registry I found a "resume setup" shortcut under START->Explore->Start Menu\Programs\Startup (i.e. in the startup group. I guess you will have probably looked there but it took me ages to find (sigh)
