Hello,
I have a win2k adv srvr box with 1 gig of ram. I am installing it as a web server. After running hisecweb.inf to secure the server I have found that I am unable to apply any additional security updates from microsoft. Windows update downloads the updates then attempts to install them (which causes a one inch blue banner bar to appear in the top left corner of the screen) eventually leading up to an error stating the updates could not be installed. The machine is at sp2. There are no corresponding descriptive errors in the event logs other than that the updates failed.
HELP.

Did you try applying a lower security template to the web server, and then the updates from microsoft? After that, you can then apply the high security template. A+, MCP, CCNA

Keep fighting for your knowledge!

Can you download the patches and hotfixes individually and apply them manually. Check out hfnetchk.exe at MS Knowledge Base(it's offline right now so I can't give you the exact link).
