Hi Guys,

I tried installing reporting services on SQL server but it didn't create the reportservices database. I read all of the MS documentation and I think it's lacking some fundamental steps and instructions. A basic Start to Finish howto would be nice.

Has anyone done this and what are the basic's I have to do to get it up?

When I start the RS install it complains about ASP.NET and Visual Studio .NET. How do you set up ASP on the server and register it with IIS? I can't find any download for ASP.NET.

I tried installing Visual Studio .NET after the first install of Reporting Services didn't turn out how I expected. In the middle of the process, it started spitting out some errors about not finding files and the options were Retry Ignore Cancel. I thought that installing VS.NET would set up ASP also. Is this correct?

My server is a W2K SP4, SQL has SP3a, all of the requirements are met as far as I know (IE, MDAC(I think), .NET Framework) except for ASP and VS.

Thanks for the help

Fernando

I just installed mine and it works just fine, however, I have not installed the VS.net 2003. I only have the 2002 verison, which does not have the Business application in creating reports.

I only installed to find out how this this works. I have been using Crystal report for a long time now to create reports and have not read more about SQL report servies. Good luck

without ASP.net and Visual Studio 2003 you should still be able to install reporting services as long as you are running IIS and have the 1.1 .net framework installed on the server. VS Studio 2003 is required only if you want to use the report designer within VS 2003 to create the reports. Take a look at the system requirements at
. I have installed on win2000 and win2003 servers without much trouble.

Hi, I have problems installing reporting services on a windows 2000 server domain controller. When I run the installation program I get the error:

IIS is either not installed or not configured for a server component installation.

It IS installed, and being used. It has a default website, on port 80, available through with IP address set to 'all unassigned'. I have changed the domain contoller security policy to give the IWAM\ account the 'Impersonate a client after authentication' right, as this machine is a domain controller.

But I still cannot get this error to go away, so I cannot install reporting services...

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Adrian.
