UNABLE TO INSTALL PATCHS

Hi all,

Any help would greatly be appreciated....


I am attempting to install the DST patch: PHCO_34668.depot


The problem I am encoutering is, using (swinstall)

I tell the it where to find the *.depot in the 'source depot path'

next I mark them for install, then finally, select 'install'

this is where I receive an error'

I starts its analyzing as expected, but then errors out with the following error




Error (servername)

The target "servername:/" failed Analysis, so the task cannot be executed. x x
xlqx For more information on this failure, press the "Logfile ..." button. xqk x


The /var/adm/sw/swagent.log

shows this error:

ERROR: The expected depot or root does not exist at "/".
ERROR: There is currently no installed software on host "cisdr" at
location "/".

Did you specify the full path to the depot?

yes,

the full path to the depot was given, permissions also seem to be fine.

I keep getting this error even though the path /var/spool/sw exist, and I did attempt to use it as my depot.

I'm really green at HPUX, and this box is not under contract, so well you know the rest...

Is the depot on a different server? Just wondered why you're using servername:

Try

/usr/sbin/swinstall -s /full/path/to/depot/file.depot

honestly,

I'm only doing it that way because I was shown how to do it that way. From when I started this thread, add about 5 hours and that is my total knowledge of HPUX. I did try your suggestion.

/usr/sbin/swinstall -s /var/tmp/Patch/PHCO_34668.depot


This is the error I received, I believe it is the same as before.

I was first told the server is not under support, but recently, I was told it was, so I called HP to open a case.

It turns out some how the /var/adm/sw/products directory is empty. This is the reason for the failure to install patches.
