Unable to install Citrix Patch

Hello,
a customer is trying to patch his Citrix PS40, running on W2K SP4 servers. Windows Installer Version 3.1 (v2)
When trying to execute the msp-file, he receives following error message from Windows Installer:

This patch package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package

Try applying a later patch first or a hotfix rollup. Although a little far fetched, this actually worked for us@

we were installing patch 02, didnt work, installed r01, then 02 again, no problems!
