Problems ocurred on trying to install a fast ethernet adapter on a PC with windows 98se. It might have been that 2 devices shared the same IRQ but anyway the installation did not proceed smoothly.
When the pc was re-started an error messages informed can't find dfs.vxd and vredir.vxd. We got Window 98 working through safe mode step by step process and not loading the above files.
Microsoft knowledge base informed that to fix the problem remove 'Client for Microsoft Networks' in Network in Control Panel and then add it back again.
This was removed but in trying to add 'Client for Microsoft Networks'a message informs that it can't find choosusr.dll on c:\??.
I tried a search c:\, the windows 98se cd, the floppy that came with the adapter, and the internet for this file but no luck. Any solutions?
I still have to start the PC with safe mode and the step by step procedure. I note that one of the above VXD files is not in the list of drivers to load in (vredir.vxd I think).
Any help appreciated
