Unable to gain network access to 'guest' notebook 1

Hi all

Have an HP notebook in for maintenance running Win 7 Home Edition and would like to access it from network of Win 7 Ultimate, XP and Linux boxes.

The notebook can access the network, but other PCs cannot access the notebook.

The notebook network is Public, the C drive is set to share with anyone.

The error message is

\\hpnotebook is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource, etc, etc

Is this a restriction in Win 7 Home edition?

Set the network to Home, enable network discovery

Never had the problem with the Win 7 Ultimate boxes set with Public networks - how come?

Not too sure... I guess network permissions get a little messed up somewhere along the line
